Is Your Furnace Green Stickered?
The green sticker means your gas furnace and other gas appliances have been inspected and/or adjusted to safely and efficiently burn the changing natural gas supply. The inspections and adjustments should be completed by a licensed heating professional.
Why Is This Necessary?
Several factors are responsible for the changing gas supply, but the most prominent reason is the availability of abundant, lower-cost supplies of natural gas.
Your gas company currently processes and blends the new gas with other sources to create a mixture that is safe to use in all appliances. However, at some point this transition will end and appliances not properly adjusted will not be safe to use, because of the excess production of carbon monoxide.
How Do I Benefit?
You can expect MORE EFFICIENT operation and INCREASED SAFETY through this process. Operation of furnaces and water heaters that have not been properly adjusted after the transition period may cause serious injury or death.
What Is Involved In An Inspection--How Long Will It Take?
The inspection and possible adjustment of your gas furnace requires about 1-2 hours. During that time a SameDay technician will:
- Check and re-size orifices in the furnace's burner.
- Clean the furnace's burners.
- Change the manifold pressure that governs the mixture of air and natural gas needed for proper and complete fuel combustion.
- Check all other furnace settings to ensure safe and efficient operation.
